Flag Lowering for Larry Trussell

The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) flag will be lowered Friday, May 14, in memory of UNO retiree Larry Trussell, Ph.D., who served as dean of the College of Business Administration at UNO from 1979 through 1992.
Larry passed away on May 7, 2021, at the age of 77.
Prior to joining UNO in 1974 as the College of Business Administration’s associate dean, Larry began his career in 1968 serving in faculty roles at Eastern Michigan University and Appalachian State University. After stepping down as dean in 1992, Larry stayed at UNO until 2005, serving as coordinator for international initiatives within the college until 1999 and as a professor until his retirement.
In his campus roles, Trussell helped secure millions in grant funding for equipment and support for UNO business programs and developed exchange programs with Romania and Moldova. He was also was part of a national college accreditation team and served as UNO faculty representative for the North Central Athletic Conference, which UNO once belonged to, and to the NCAA.
In the community, Larry served as president of the Board of Directors for the Millard Educational Foundation, a district governor for Rotary International, and on the International Trade Commission for the Omaha Chamber of Commerce. He is also a past chair of the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan YMCA and past chair of the Board of Directors for the Omaha Home for Boys.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sharon; his two daughters Christie Jamieson (Gary) and Michelle Mowry (John); his six grandchildren (Alix, Josh, Hunter, Caleb, Ania and Claire); and his three sisters Mary Lou Gorden, Betty Vandivier, Judy Moore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the University of Nebraska Foundation to benefit the Larry and Sharon Trussell Accounting Scholarship Fund.
