Flag Lowering for Phouvong Mychackavane
The UNO flag will be lowered on Monday, May 9, in memory of Phouvong Mychackavane, a UNO retiree who passed away on April 14, 2022, at the age of 64.

The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) flag will be lowered on Monday, May 9, in memory of UNO retiree Phouvong "Phou" Mychackavane.
Phou passed away on April 14, 2022, at the age of 64. He started at UNO in August 1983 and continued until his retirement in October 2015. While at UNO Phou worked as a member of custodial services.
Phou was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Meuang Mychackavane; children Khaimouk (Alejandro) Zamora, Win (Jennifer) Mychackavane, and Johnny Mychackavane; grandchildren Cassandra, Christian, Giovianni, Donavan, Daniel, Carmyne, Vanessa, Antonyo, and Gya; and nieces, nephews, and other family.
A service was held for Phou on April 23, 2022.
The thoughts and condolences of the university community are with Phou's loved ones during this time.
