An ongoing Stanford University study examining the impact and citations of all researchers has identified eight current and former UNO faculty who rank among the top two percent of researchers in the world in their fields.
The latest update to the research, published annually, creates a database of the 100,000 top-cited scientists across 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields, resulting in rankings for more than 195,000 top scientists total. This requires analyzing the work of more than six million scientists worldwide and ranking them based on their career-long or single-year output (as of 2021) within their field of study. The compilation tracks standardized information on the number of publications and various citation metrics that measure the impact of a researcher’s work.
At UNO, recognized faculty spanned the fields of biomechanics, information systems & quantitative analysis, psychology, biology, and more.
“One of the most gratifying results for a researcher is being able to see that the work is truly making an impact. This group of UNO researchers in particular should be celebrated for the expansive worldwide impact of their work," said Sara Myers, Ph.D., interim associate vice chancellor of research and creative activity. "It fills me with pride to see eight names on this list for 2021, and I am eager to see additional UNO researchers named in this study in the years to come.”
Updated data for 2022 is expected to be released in Fall 2023.
Single Year Impact
UNO single-year research honorees for 2021 include (all ranks shown for composite score):
- Andrea Grover, Ph.D., associate professor of information systems and quantitative analysis. Ranked No. 2,916 for her research in the field of artificial intelligence & image processing. Grover was also listed in 2020 and was ranked highly in a separate field.
