UNO Names Ellie Luna Employee of the Month, April 2023

Ellie Luna, an education records associate in the Office of the Registrar for the University of Nebraska at Omaha, has been named UNO Employee of the Month for April 2023.

She was nominated by her peers for her ability to go above and beyond when helping students through the intricacies of registration and student records, as well as her interest in taking charge and stepping into projects independently.

A great example of this is when she saw that students were regularly stopping by to ask how to access or find specific documents or forms, she took the initiative to draft small one-sheet brochures that students could take with them, even going so far as to include a QR code that could take them directly to the document or website in some cases.

Information systems can be daunting, but Luna is constantly looking to make the experience easy for those around her. One nominator said, “She is always trying to learn more about different sections in PeopleSoft and what their functions are so she can better help students and staff.”

In addition to this desire to keep current on information, she has earned a reputation for dependability and accuracy that her peers in the Registrar’s office know they can rely on if they turn to her for help. Another nominator noted, “If she doesn’t already know the answer, she is quick to research the information so that we can then help the next person with that same question easily.”

Another peer glowed about her ability to connect with visitors, saying, “Ellie takes the time to listen to our visitors and asks follow-up questions so that we can fully understand what they need. She is an excellent communicator, and her customer service skills are phenomenal.”

For being named as Employee of the Month, Luna will receive a certificate, a hot/cold tumbler provided by the UNO Bookstore, a monetary award, two tickets to a UNO sporting event, and use of a designated parking space.
