Miller Chosen as a Grand Marshall at the “United We Walk” Event

The University of Nebraska at Omaha’s (UNO) Chief Diversity Officer, A.T. Miller, Ph.D., has been elected to serve as one of five Grand Marshalls for the “United We Walk” event hosted by the Tri-Faith Initiative.
Miller was elected by the initiative based on their continued devotion to advancing diversity, equity, access, and inclusion in Nebraska. As a Grand Marshal, Miller will play a pivotal role in spearheading the walk and representing the event's core values. Together, the five chosen Grand Marshalls will lead the procession, officially initiating the walk, and creating an inclusive environment for all attendees.
“I am really happy to have the opportunity to participate again in this remarkable endeavor, having been part of the first event last year, and I am honored to have received the title of Grand Marshall. The Tri-Faith Initiative plays a vital role in making advancements in diversity, equity, access and inclusion in Nebraska.” says Miller, “This walk symbolizes not only our remembrance of the tragedies that occurred on 9/11, but the message that hate and violence have no place in our community, and the only way to overcome them is through mutual understanding and interaction.”
Miller's appointment to this prestigious role is a testament to their exceptional qualifications and dedication in the field. They have a long history of demonstrating their unwavering commitment to promoting fairness and acceptance in the community. As a recipient of numerous fellowships, a renowned author to several peer reviewed articles, and having an extensive background in advocating for marginalized communities, their presence has become instrumental in cultivating spaces that celebrate diversity in all its different forms.
UNO has partnered with the Tri-Faith Initiative through the religious studies program in hosting the “Race, Religion, and Social Justice” conference for the past two years.
The second annual “United We Walk” event will be held outside at the Tri-Faith Commons, located near 132nd and Pacific, on Sunday, Sept. 10 , 2023. The walk aims to those lost in the tragic events of 9/11, and to bring the community closer together in an enriching way. The Tri-Faith Initiative’s mission is to cultivate inclusive environments that advance interfaith relationships and understanding.
