UNO students, faculty, staff and members of the community gathered at the Milo Bail Student Center on the University of Nebraska at Omaha's (UNO) Dodge Campus for OMAThon 2024 on April 6.
Hosted by UNO Dance Marathon, OMAThon is a 12-hour fundraiser that raises money for Children's Nebraska (formerly known as Omaha Children's Hospital & Medical Center). The annual event is the culmination of a year's worth of fundraising through fun events like FEBRUhairy, Clothing for a Cause, the Leap Day Push, food nights at area restaurants, Eileen's Colossal Cookies dough sales, limited edition Omaha Hockey sweatshirt sales, sponsorships, and more.
The Grand Total
This year's efforts raised $63,788.66, smashing the original goal of $60,000.
For the Kids
All of the money raised by UNO Dance Marathon goes to Children's Nebraska through Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Children's Nebraska is the only full-service pediatric specialty health care center in Nebraska. Patients are referred from throughout the region and beyond for the treatment of complex or unusual diseases in adding to pediatric primary care. At Children's Nebraska no child in need of medical care is ever turned away due to an inability to pay.
A Maverick Tradition
UNO Dance Marathon was established in fall 2015. Since that semester, the organization has worked to bring awareness to Children's Nebraska and the great work they do for the kids in our communities. Since the first OMAthon in 2016, the Maverick community has raised more than $250,000.
