The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) and Coca-Cola have entered into a pouring rights agreement, making the world’s leading beverage brand the official soft drink of UNO and Omaha Athletics, UNO announced today.
The NU System Board of Regents approved the multi-year agreement on Thursday. Coca-Cola products are now available for sale in vending machines and fountains on UNO’s campus and at Omaha Athletics events.
“This is an exciting day for students, faculty, staff, visitors, and fans,” UNO Chancellor Joanne Li, Ph.D., said. “Coca-Cola is a brand that our campus community loves, and I am thrilled to see this partnership come to life. Their commitment to quality and community as a global brand aligns perfectly with our values at UNO, and we look forward to the many opportunities this collaboration will bring.”
Through the agreement, products that include Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite, Fanta, smartwater, vitaminwater, Minute Maid, Simply, Gold Peak, Powerade, Barq’s, Topo Chico, Mello Yello, and Peace Tea can be enjoyed on campus. UNO will earn commissions on vending sales of Coca-Cola products, as well as contributions to UNO sports camps, the Maverick Women’s Run, Powerade sideline products, and more.
“Omaha Athletics is extremely excited to partner with Coca-Cola,” UNO Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Adrian Dowell said. “Our new collaboration with this iconic brand will elevate the gameday experience for fans while also directly impacting student-athletes by Coca-Cola's direct support of the Maverick Women’s Run and by providing hydration products that will keep our Mavericks fueled for peak performance in competition and in the classroom.”
Executive Associate Athletic Director of Internal Affairs Matt Maher led agreement negotiations for UNO.
“This agreement puts the campus community and fans at the forefront,” Maher said. “This collaboration not only enhances the on-campus experience but also amplifies our presence in the Omaha community, providing countless opportunities for dynamic engagement and increased brand recognition.”
