The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) flag will be lowered on Friday, Sept. 13, in memory of retiree Janie Herrick, who recently passed away. The thoughts and condolences of the university community are with Janie’s loved ones during this time.

About Janie

Janie started her career at UNO on Oct. 3, 1994. She retired from her role as staff secretary in the Teacher Education department on Oct. 1, 2012.

Janie is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gary Herrick; son and daughter-in-law, David and Amy Herrick; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Karl Hake; siblings, Nancy (Richard) Nelson, Dennis (Karen) Atkinson, Doug (Julie) Atkinson, Richard (Stacey) Atkinson, and Joe (Kim) Atkinson; sister-in-law, Lezlie Atkinson; grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan, Brianna, Madeline, Kaleb, Natalie, and Abigail; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
