The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) flag will be lowered on Friday, Oct. 11, in memory of retiree Russell Schneider, who recently passed away. The thoughts and condolences of the university community are with Russell's loved ones during this time. Read the full obituary.

About Russell

Russell started his career at UNO on June 2, 2000. He retired from his role as Public Safety Officer on April 1, 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by wife, Theresa Bellevue; son, Rusty Schneider; and daughter, Rachel Schneider, both Arizona; stepsons, Freddie Garcia Bellevue, and Joseph Velez Augusta, Georgia; sister, Connie Mendez, Fremont; and seven grandchildren.

A military graveside service was held at Ridge Cemetery in Fremont, Nebraska, on Sept. 27.
