The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Faculty and Staff Employee Assistance Program (FSEAP) has contracted with the Best Care Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to provide confidential counseling and referral services at no cost to all full-time faculty, all UNO staff, eligible dependents of faculty and staff, and employees of the President’s office. You do not need a referral from a manager or supervisor to use these services.

Summary of Services Available

The FSEAP is a great resource for employees and, effective with the start of the new year, the benefits provided by the program have been enhanced. Employees now have access to the following:

Short-Term Counseling (five free sessions per year total)

Best Care EAP provides short-term confidential counseling with a licensed counselor for any kind of personal or job issue, including but not limited to: stress, marriage/relationship, family dynamics, work/life balance, addiction and recovery, grief and loss. Sessions are available day, evening, and weekend, and conducted in-person or via telehealth.

NEW IN 2024: Talkspace Virtual Therapy will offer another short-term counseling option. This option is ideal for individuals who are comfortable with self-scheduling and communicating virtually or by text.

Some situations may require the use of ongoing or specialized support. In this case, your Best Care counselor will work with you to find the most appropriate and cost-effective resource. Any fees related to using that resource then become your responsibility.

Work/Life Referrals

Best Care Work/Life resources provide consultation and guidance with everyday life hurdles such as: adoption guidance, housing and utility programs, elder and dependent care assistance, pet care and more. Contact Best Care EAP to access this service.

Legal and Financial Support

This service includes a free initial consultation plus a 25% discount off ongoing assistance. Contact BestCare EAP to access this service. You can also access forms/information such as sample wills, leases, etc. from your Best Care EAP member portal (see below for login details).

When you contact the FSEAP, a qualified Best Care staff member will speak with you to assess the nature of the problem and to identify the best course of action to be taken. In most instances, problems can be resolved within a number of confidential and private sessions with a Best Care Professional provided at their location.

If a referral to a community resource is necessary, the FSEAP staff will refer you to the most appropriate resource available.
