Information Technology Services looks forward to welcoming everyone back to campus for the Fall semester. We have a variety of resources available to enhance your teaching and learning experience.
Drop-In Support
The UNO ITS Digital Learning team offers drop-in support both in-person and virtually for faculty teaching with technology. If you are on campus and looking for the assistance of an instructional designer or instructional technologist, please feel free to visit the team in Eppley Administration Building (EAB) Room 113. Due to the high degree of usage and convenience for faculty, the Digital Learning will also continue staffing the virtual drop-in faculty support room, which is open 9 A.M. to 4 P.M., Monday through Friday, at https://tiny.cc/UNODigitalLearning.
Technology Assistance and Troubleshooting
For technology assistance and troubleshooting, visit the MavTECH Help Center in the Eppley Administration Building (EAB) Room 104. You can also email support@nebraska.edu or call 402.554.4357.
Below is information on some of the most used services and helpful resources available to students, faculty and staff at UNO.
Canvas
Canvas is UNO's Learning Management System (LMS) that provides instructors with the ability to distribute course materials and much more. It includes assessment and communication tools, student and teacher apps for mobile access, and analytics for monitoring usage. To access, visit canvas.unomaha.edu and use your UNO Net ID to login.
Zoom
Zoom is a web conferencing system with full audio, video and screen sharing capabilities. It can be used on Windows, Mac, and Linux computer platforms, as well as on iOS and Android mobile devices. Zoom Pro licenses are available to UNO faculty, staff and students. To access, visit zoom.unomaha.edu and use your UNO Net ID to log in to the service. Best practices on Zoom security are available on the NU ITS website.
Laptop and MiFi Checkout
Access to internet and a computer is critical for students, faculty, and staff. Equipment is available for semester-long checkout at the ITS helpdesk. To request equipment, visit: https://www.unomaha.edu/information-technology-services/software-and-hardware/checkout/index.php
Academic Video
UNO Academic Video is provided by VidGrid, the video streaming and lecture capture system used by the University of Nebraska. The service is available to instructors and students in academic courses for credit. We highly encourage instructors to take advantage of the professional closed captioning available through VidGrid to increase the accessibility of video content.
TurnItIn and Respondus
UNO instructors have access to TurnItIn and Respondus, both of which are accessed through Canvas. TurnItIn can assist instructors with reviewing students' written content for appropriate citation, and Respondus can assist instructors with the proctoring and monitoring of virtual test taking.
Open Nebraska
Open Nebraska is a NU-wide program encouraging the use of reduced-cost digital textbooks and open educational resources (OER) to help make access to textbooks and course content more affordable for students.
Data and File Storage
Microsoft OneDrive, the university's data storage provider, gives you one place to store, share and sync your work or school files.
-
Upload files from your PC or Mac
-
Share files with others
-
Give others permission to edit files and work on them at the same time
-
Get to your files from anywhere, on your computer, tablet, or phone
-
Sync OneDrive to your PC or Mac, so you can access your files even when you're offline
To access OneDrive through your web browser, go to portal.office365.com.
If you are using a university-managed computer, you can download the OneDrive app from your software portal. More information about OneDrive, including training resources, can be found at its.nebraska.edu/box.
Two-Factor Authentication
ITS provides Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) technology, adding an extra layer of protection for University of Nebraska online systems. Two-Factor Authentication, provided by Duo, integrates your phone into the login process, resulting in two types of authentication to verify your identity:
-
Something you know – your NUID and password
-
Something you have – your phone (mobile, office or home)
Changes to your Two-Factor account, such as adding a new device or deactivating Duo Mobile if you got a new phone but kept your number, can be made by clicking My Settings and Devices on the Duo Prompt screen.
Additional Information
More information on these and other ITS services can be found at its.unomaha.edu.
