Participate in the Nebraska Governor’s New Venture Competition
The competition offers Nebraska post-secondary students a hands-on opportunity to explore entrepreneurship. Submissions are due by Dec. 15.

The Governor’s New Venture Competition is designed for student-led businesses at the ideation and pre-seed stages. Students must be undergraduate or graduate students attending a Nebraska post-secondary educational institution at the time of application. Applicants must designate how their business falls into one of the eight industry tracks: Agtech, Bioeconomy, Fintech/Insurtech, Cleantech, Advanced Manufacturing, Bio/Healthtech, Emerging Media Arts, and Sportstech.
Students must apply by Dec. 15, 2024 through the competition’s website.

Key Dates
- Dec. 15, 2024: Submission Deadline
- Dec. 20, 2024: Semi-Finalists Chosen
- Jan. 6, 2025: Virtual Semi-Finals
- Jan. 30, 2025: Finals at the Cornhusker Hotel, including live pitches and winner announcements during the Nebraska State Chamber Hall of Fame Banquet.
Requirements
- Business proposal must be entered in ONE of the nine industry tracks previously listed.
- Students may only participate on one team, regardless of track.
- Participating teams must be comprised of more than one student.
- All student participants must be actively enrolled at a post-secondary educational institution in Nebraska at the time of submission. This includes community colleges, state colleges, and universities.
- Teams will submit proposals on Reviewr.
- The maximum limit for seed capital raised by a company at time of application is $1,000,000.
- The maximum limit in revenue previously generated by a company is $500,000.
Award Details
- 1st place award = $20,000
- 2nd place award = $15,000
- 3rd place award = $10,000
