Undergraduate business programs at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) climbed to a new all-time best in the latest Best Colleges rankings issued Monday by U.S. News & World Report.
The new rankings continue an upward trend for undergraduate programs within UNO’s College of Business Administration with a ranking of 164th in the country, placing UNO among the top third of national universities ranked and tied with or ranked higher than nearly all of its peer institutions as determined by the Board of Regents and within the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities (CUMU). The new rankings place UNO two spots higher than last year and 16 spots higher than two years ago.
“UNO’s College of Business Administration prides itself in developing professionals who can meet the most in-demand needs of today’s workforce,” CBA Dean Michelle Trawick, Ph.D., said. “We continue to emphasize core business areas such as accounting and human resources and are seeing substantial growth in business analytics, supply chain and logistics, sales, and entrepreneurship. This climb in the rankings again recognizes that Mavericks who earn a degree from CBA at UNO enter the workforce primed to meet these needs in the business world head-on.”
UNO was also ranked among the top national universities in the country, reaching the 299th spot out of more than 440 total schools ranked. Among peer institutions, UNO was ranked among the middle of the pack and closely behind two other schools. Undergraduate computer science programs at UNO were ranked in the top 40 percent of national universities coming in at 194th out of more than 500 institutions. UNO was also recognized as being among the nation’s top public schools (ranked 156th) and as a top performer in social mobility (242nd).
Program-specific rankings are compiled through ratings from deans and senior faculty members at other institutions. Respondents were asked to rate the academic quality of other institutions, including UNO, on a 5-point scale.
