Connect with Advisor
If you were admitted to a graduate certificate, master’s, educational specialist, or doctoral program, contact your advisor for guidance on course selection, permit numbers, and advising holds. Advisor contact information is available on your plan of study or via MavLINK under "Contact My Advisor." Students admitted as non-degree or unclassified should consult the appropriate department or college regarding class availability and enrollment. -
Review Holds
Review your To-Do List & holds within MavLINK to view items needed to complete your files, such as official transcripts, test scores, or other outstanding items related to your admission. Visit our FAQ page for commonly asked questions about holds. -
Register for Classes
Once you have connected with your Advisor and all holds are cleared from your account, you are ready to register for classes. Please visit the Office of the University Registrar online where you can review enrollment dates, search classes, enroll for classes and review helpful resources. The Registrar not only assists students in enrolling for classes but provides transcripts and many other support services. -
Finalize Funding and Review Tuition, Fees and Payment Processes
If you haven’t already, take time to finalize your education funding plans and familiarize yourself with UNO’s tuition, fees, and payment processes. Start by exploring UNO’s Office of Financial Support and Scholarships, where you’ll find guidance on completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Additionally, you can find a comprehensive list of funding resources for affording your graduate education at UNO on the Graduate Studies website. -
Review Student Resources
You will not want to skip this one! There is an abundance of support available to you as a Maverick. We invite you to familiarize yourself with the student resources available to you at UNO. -
New Graduate Student Orientation
The Office of Graduate Studies offers a virtual orientation throughout the academic year via Canvas. We highly encourage all newly admitted students to review the Canvas modules. Graduate Assistants also have access to an additional orientation module. Additionally, newly admitted graduate students, non-degree-seeking students and graduate assistants are invited to join us in August for our in-person welcome event.
Upon completion of this checklist, you will be ready for your first semester as a graduate student. Our support does not end here though.
