UNO Graduate Programs Recognized by U.S. News & World Report

Graduate programs at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) have been nationally recognized for their academic excellence through new rankings released today by U.S. News & World Report.
With an expanded field of rankings now focusing on additional programs, the 2023 U.S. News & World Report Graduate School rankings include programs from four of UNO’s six colleges.
“The number of programs across our colleges with high rankings is a real point of pride for the campus. It speaks highly of our students and the dedication of our faculty and staff and the quality, rigor, and inclusiveness of the programs,” said Juan Casas, Ph.D., acting dean of the UNO Office of Graduate Studies. “We offer world class training in a supportive, student-centered environment that prepares students well for meeting their professional goals and meeting the challenges of today’s world.”
Building on its already high ranking, UNO’s School of Public Administration moved up five spots nationally to 23rd in the nation in the Public Affairs category. UNO tied with institutions like Columbia University and Duke University while also coming out ahead of other institutions like Cornell University, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Colorado-Denver, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Specialties within the School of Public Administration were also highly ranked, including:
- Local Government Management at seventh in the nation (up four spots)
- Nonprofit Management at 11th in the nation (up one spot)
- Public Finance at fifth in the nation (up three spots)
- Leadership at 19th in the nation (up five spots).
The College of Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS) also received recognition for graduate programs within UNO’s Grace Abbott School of Social Work. UNO moved up two spots in the social work rankings to reach 94th in the nation.
UNO’s College of Business Administration received recognition for its Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. In the part-time MBA program rankings, UNO currently sits at 131st out of all institutions surveyed by U.S. News & World Report.
For the first time, graduate programs in the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Information Science & Technology received rankings by U.S. News & World Report. The university looks to build on its initial rankings in biology (ranked 203rd), computer science (ranked 175th), and psychology (ranked 162nd).
UNO offers more than 90 graduate degree programs across all six of its colleges, including a wide variety of fully-online master’s degree and graduate certificate programs Graduate scholarships are available for graduate students at UNO, including the Jump Start Scholarship which provides funding for qualifying students who jump straight into a graduate program following completion of their undergraduate degree at UNO.
