  4. Proposal FAQs

Do I have to submit all proposals through OSP?

YES – all external funding (including service contracts) must be reviewed, approved, and submitted through OSP and approved via NuRamp.

  • Seek consultation from your Grants Coordinator on the routing and approvals needed prior to submitting any proposal, even a white paper.

Does OSP or my Grants Coordinator find funding for me?

ORCA (not a Grants Coordinator/OSP) provides guidance and resources for PIs to identify funding opportunities:

  • Grant Forward
  • Foundation Directory Online
  • Grants.gov
  • Research Nebraska

For guidance and training on these resources, contact Deanna Marcelino, deannamarcelino@unomaha.edu, ORCA Project Manager.

Additional guidance can be requested from the ORCA Assistant Vice Chancellor

  • Dr. Sara Myers, smyers@unomaha.edu
  • Dr. Kristin Girten, kgirten@unomaha.edu

Does OSP or ORCA provide grant writing assistance?

No, OSP nor ORCA provides direct grant-writing assistance, however, there are opportunities for grant-writing workshops or content review:

  • ORCA-sponsored grant writing workshops
  • Other on-campus workshops/seminars (STEM Trail Center, Department of Biomechanics Seminar, Great Plains IDEA-CTR)
  • Can seek outside consultants or grant reviewers. Contact an AVC for further information.
    • The submitting faculty member will be asked to provide names and contact information for reviewers in their field of study.
