UNO is a popular filming destination. Our campus has welcomed videographers whose clients range from Netflix to local film festivals.
Providing a Certificate of Insurance
UNO Risk Management requires that film crews provide a certificate of insurance of $1 million per occurrence and $3 million aggregate. The certificate holder should be listed as:
The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska
University of Nebraska at Omaha
6001 Dodge Street
Omaha, NE 68182
If using an ACORD Form, the policy must name “The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska” as an additional insured.
This certificate must be reviewed and approved by UNO’s Business and Finance office. To receive approval, please email a copy of the certificate to unonews@unomaha.edu no later than 30 days prior to the actual filming date.
Minimizing Campus Disruption
Requests for filming in both commons areas or dedicated academic, research, or performance spaces will be considered on a case-by-case basis and may require a reservation request in accordance with UNO’s Regulations on the Use of Facilities and Grounds. Relay questions to unonews@unomaha.edu.
Likewise, videographers must adhere to university policy when filming at UNO.
Requesting Permission to Film with a Drone (if applicable)
Crews that want to film with an unmanned aircraft system (UAS), also known as a drone, must have a fully-executed operating agreement with the university prior to filming.
Using a drone requires additional insurance, including occurrence-based UAS Liability Insurance and Statutory Workers’ Compensation Insurance. Please see the application for additional details.
Applications should be emailed to unonews@unomaha.edu no later than 30 days prior to the actual filming date.
Whenever possible, UNO encourages keeping UAS filming separate from a traditional shoot to avoid complications.
Please note that UAS policy prevents the following:
-
UAS operations as part of UNO activities without submission of the required information and approval by the designated UNO campus authority are prohibited.
-
UAS outdoor or indoor operations on or above UNO that create an undue hazard to the university community or the public.
-
UAS operations on or above UNO that monitor or record sensitive institutional or personal information, including: an individual’s workspace or computer; restrooms; changing, dressing, or locker rooms; residential rooms, hallways, or lounges; health treatment rooms; or daycare facilities.
-
UAS operations above or in the proximity of UNO’s Caniglia Field on a game day (prohibited under Federal Aviation Administration regulation) unless granted an exception by UNO’s Chancellor and a Federal Aviation Administration airspace waiver.
