About Taricka Burton
Taricka Burton has worked at UNO since 2012 and served as the Associate Director of Multicultural Programs and Outreach in the Office of Multicultural Affairs (now the Office of Student Leadership, Involvement, and Inclusion) before taking on the executive director role.
She is a UNO graduate, earning her Bachelor of Science in communication. She also earned a Master of Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL).
Burton said part of her mission would be maintaining a supportive atmosphere within the office. She loves helping others as she leads SLII.
Her top strengths include responsibility, connectedness, consistency, relator, and developer. She has committed to being a lifelong learner as health, humility, and hope remain the core of her foundation.
She thoroughly enjoys spending time with her family and loved ones when she is not studying or working.
SLII must assume responsibility to assist in identifying systemic racism as well as solutions to address it on our campus. My vision for SLII is to continue to provide a safe haven for students directly or indirectly impacted by the current racial turmoil and unrest in our community and our country.
My work ethic, networking skills, and values of cultural sensitivity and cultural humility in addition to being a lifelong learner serves as the foundation for preserving an atmosphere of hope and a healthy environment for students who walk through the doors of SLII at UNO.
