The Summer Bridge Programs are college preparation programs for juniors and seniors in high school.
Selected students will participate in leadership building and career exploration and take a UNO college academic course (3 credits) during UNO's Summer Session.
If selected to participate in one of our Summer Bridge Programs, there is NO cost to the student. Tuition, fees, books, parking permits, etc., will be covered. This is a great opportunity!

To qualify, students must be a high school junior or senior (when applying) and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 grading scale.

Summer Scholars Program Overview
Summer Scholars provides college-bound high school juniors the opportunity to enroll in a course at UNO to earn college credits, prepare for college life, and connect with UNO faculty, staff, and students. The goal of the Summer Scholars Program is to expose high school students to the dynamics of a college campus environment through a pre-college summer session.
In addition to the educational benefits of the program, the scholars receive an increased awareness of current social and cultural issues and an opportunity to grow outside of the classroom.
Eligibility
To become a Summer Scholar at UNO, students must apply for admission and meet the following requirements:
- Completed application submitted online
- Upload unofficial high school transcript
- Provide one Letter of Recommendation
- At least a 2.0 GPA
- Show exemplary interest in leadership opportunities post-graduation
Essay Topic
Describe two important goals you would like to accomplish within the next five years. Why would you like to participate in the Summer Scholars Program, and how will the Summer Scholars Program play a role in helping you achieve your goals? The essay should be at least 300 words in length.
UNO Jumpstart Program Overview
Be part of our innaugural class of the UNO Jumpstart Program, with funding provided through the Weitz Excellence and Innovation Fund. UNO Jumpstart provides emerging UNO freshmen a FREE, unparalleled opportunity for college-bound students, to experience college life through 5-weeks of engaging programming. Participants get a head start in their college journey, as they build their support system and connect with UNO students, faculty, and staff!

To become a Jumpstart Scholar at UNO, students must apply for admission and meet the following requirements:
- Already applied to UNO, must be an admitted student
- Must be a graduating high school senior
- Completed and submitted online application
- Email unofficial high school transcript to slii@unomaha.edu
- At least a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Answer essay questions
- Email one Letter of Recommendation to slii@unomaha.edu
- Show exemplary interest in leadership opportunities post-graduation
