Additional Information
Bio
Andrew is from Lincoln, NE, and is studying civil engineering and mathematics. His non-profit experience includes partnering with Omaha by Design. As part of a community action project, his team developed a 3D GIS model of Omaha's annexation. This process can be easily applied to other datasets so different variables can be easily compared side-by-side by city planners. His leadership experience includes being a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers Omaha student chapter and the Concrete Canoe team. His internship experience includes working as both a construction intern and a civil engineering intern at WSP's Lincoln, NE location. As a construction intern, he measured and recorded quantities, kept an inspector's daily report, and ensured work completion per plan and spec on pavement and water main projects for the City of Lincoln. As a civil engineering intern, he has worked on the design and analysis of a new pre-tensioned concrete girder bridge and plan preparations for multiple highway restoration projects. This summer, he will continue working at WSP in St. Louis, MO as a structural engineering intern. His research experience includes working as an undergraduate research assistant in the Materials Lab at UNO with Dr. Hu, where he assisted graduate researchers with their projects. His duties included mixing, specimen preparation, and testing of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), cellular concrete, and biochar concrete. His career interests include structural engineering, specifically, the design, project management, and construction management of building structures.
