Ronald J. Burns is chairman and chief executive officer of Enron Corp.'s Gas Pipeline Group consisting of Enron subsidiaries: Northern Natural Gas, Houston Pipe Line, Florida Gas Transmission, Transwestern Pipeline, Northern Plains Natural Gas and Enron Gas Marketing.
After joining Enron in 1974, he held several positions in Northern Natural Gas Company's regulatory affairs, operations and marketing departments. He was named vice president, transportation and exchange, in 1984.
He became president of Enron Gas Marketing in 1985; president of Enron Gas Transportation Company in 1986; and president, Enron Interstate Pipelines in October 1988. In December 1989 he was named president of the Gas Pipeline Group, and in October 1990 he became chairman and chief executive officer.
Mr. Burns graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a B.S. degree in business administration. Mr. Burns is President of the Board of Directors of the Houston Child Guidance Center. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Houston Metropolitan YMCA, the Natural Gas Research Institute, and the American Gas Association.
