Greg McMillan is CEO and co-chief investment officer of Blackburn Investment Management, an alternative investment management firm focused on middle market transactions.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1983 and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University in 1984.
McMillan started his business career at Cargill Inc. as a financial analyst. He held various positions in Cargill’s financial services business, including vice president in the Value Investment Group.
In 1993, McMillan co-founded Värde Partners, a global alternative investment advisor focused on credit and value investing strategies. He concentrated on the real estate, consumer credit, and specialty finance segments of Värde’s portfolio. As a managing partner, he was also responsible for overall firm management, strategy, and portfolio management. Today, Värde manages over $14 billion in assets and has invested over $55 billion in transactions since its inception.
McMillan is a member of the board of Fr. Flanagan’s Fund for Needy Children. In the past, he has served as a member and chairman of the Boys Town Board of Trustees, a member of the University of Minnesota Foundation Investment Advisors Board of Directors, an advisor to the Mayo Clinic Investment Committee, and a member of the Miami University Parents Council.
