John Nahas received his Bachelor of Science in economics and finance from Creighton University in 1975. He earned his MBA from UNO in 1978.A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Nahas joined the accounting department of Omaha National Bank as a financial analyst in 1975. He was named vice president of Commercial Federal Bank in 1978, serving in that capacity for nine years.
Nahas was named senior vice president for Business Banking at what had become FirsTier Bank in 1987, and was promoted to executive vice president and district manager of its Business Banking Division in 1996. He later served as president of the Omaha market until stepping down in March 2004.
Nahas is a board member of Creighton University, the Midwest Housing Equity Group, the Strategic Air and Space Museum, the U.S. Strategic Command Consultation Committee and Travel and Transport.
He is a member of the board of trustees of the Boy Scouts Mid-America Council and Children’s Hospital. He has chaired the Joslyn Art Museum corporate membership drive and the Archbishop’s Dinner for Educational Development.
He received the Citation for Alumnus Achievement from UNO in 2000.
