Have a bachelor's degree and want to teach at the elementary level?
The Elementary Accelerated Certification for Teachers Program (EACT) at UNO is an accelerated elementary teacher certification program for individuals with a bachelor's degree or higher who wish to earn an Initial Teaching Certificate issued by the Nebraska Department of Education.
Students who successfully complete the qualifications of the EACT program will be eligible for Nebraska certification.
EACT is a two-year program that allows individuals to work full-time during the school year as a Paraprofessional while taking certification classes. The second year, EACT candidates will be eligible for a Transitional Teaching Permit, which will allow them to be hired by districts to be full-time classroom teachers with a contract, salary, and benefits.
Graduate credit hours earned in the program may be applied to the requirements for a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education.

- Coursework for the Elementary Accelerated Certification for Teachers (EACT) program begins in the first summer session. These classes address initial education content which prepares candidates to begin working in classroom settings in the fall while continuing with additional courses.

After successful completion of the coursework in the second summer semester, EACT Candidates will be eligible for a Transitional Teaching Permit for the upcoming school year. This will allow them to be hired by a district to teach full-time in the classroom while working on their certification courses in the evenings and on weekends.

Please be aware that some misdemeanor and felony convictions can prevent applicants from participating in the UN0 ACT program and obtaining a Nebraska teaching certificate.
