Merit and Achievement Scholarships for SCCJ students

The Robert P. Houston Criminology and Criminal Justice Scholarship (award up to $4,000). Preference given to students pursuing a career in corrections. Open to students on the Omaha or Lincoln campus.

The UNO/UNL Criminal Justice Education Scholarship (award up to $4,000). Open to students on the Omaha or Lincoln campus.

The Richard J.A. Kreulen Memorial UNO School of Criminology and Criminal Justice Scholarship (award up to $2,900) to a junior or senior SCCJ student with a cumulative GPA of 3.2+. Open to students on the Omaha or Lincoln campus.

The Webb Family Scholarship (award up to $2,000) to a SCCJ undergraduate entering his/her senior year. Preference is given to students interested in pursuing a master's degree in criminology and criminal justice. Open to students on the Omaha or Lincoln campus.

The Richard J.A. Kreulen Memorial SCCJ Scholarship (award up to $1,200). Open to students on the Omaha or Lincoln campus.

The Brad Ashford and Mark Ashford Innovation in Criminal Justice Scholarship (award up to $1,000) recognizes the professional contributions of these distinguished individuals. Open to students on the Omaha campus.

The Jeff Marshall Scholarship Fund (award up to $800) to a full-time junior or senior who has expressed desire to work in the public service sector and exhibiting academic growth and future potential. Open to students on the Lincoln campus.

The Joe Carroll Scholarship (award up to $750) to an outstanding Lincoln police officer that has reached senior standing by the time of award. Open to students on the Lincoln campus.

The David C. and Marilyn S. Moore Internship Support Scholarship (award up to $500) to an outstanding SCCJ student on the Lincoln campus who is participating in a criminal justice internship for credit through the UNO SCCJ. Open to students on the Lincoln campus.

Needs Based Scholarships for SCCJ students

The Wade and Alice Knapp Scholarship (award up to $4,000) to a SCCJ undergraduate student. Consideration of financial need. Open to students on the Omaha or Lincoln campus.

The Detective Kerry Oroczo First Responders Scholarship (award up to $2,000) to a SCCJ junior or senior with a record of community service and an interest in pursuing a career as a first responder (local, state or federal law enforcement, fire or EMT). Consideration of financial need. Minimum GPA of 2.5. Open to students on the Omaha or Lincoln campus.

The Len and Ann Freeman Memorial Scholarship (award up to $3,000) to a SCCJ undergraduate participating in the London Study Abroad Program. Consideration of financial need. Open to students on the Omaha or Lincoln campus.

The Douglas Family Scholarship Fund (award up to $2,000) for a junior or senior student with a GPA of 3.0+. Recipient must have graduated from a Nebraska high school. Consideration of financial need. Open to students on the Lincoln campus.

The Deputy Chief Monroe Coleman Scholarship (award up to $1,000) to a student interested in a law enforcement career. Consideration given to financial need. Open to students on the Omaha campus.

The William Wakefield Student Support Scholarship (award up to $500) to an SCCJ undergraduate participating in the London Study Abroad Program. Multiple awards may be given. Open to students on the Omaha or Lincoln campus.

Related non-UNO SCCJ Scholarships or Funding mechanisms

The Nebraska Juvenile Justice Association Scholarship Award provides a $500 scholarship to an outstanding junior or senior attending any Nebraska college or university, working toward a career in juvenile justice. Applicants are asked to fill out a form describing work experience in the field, volunteer/community service experience, professional growth and development, and career goals. Applications are reviewed and a recipient is selected by the NJJA Board. The scholarship is presented during the annual conference awards luncheon. Law Enforcement Tuition Waiver -- A 2016 Nebraska legislative provides Nebraska law enforcement officers tuition waiver at any Nebraska state university, state college or community college. To qualify, an officer must maintain satisfactory job performance, meet all admission requirements of the post secondary institution and pursue an associate or baccalaureate degree related to his/her career in law enforcement.
