Employer Perspectives in Hiring and Working with Justice-Involved Individuals
We all want persons to be gainfully employed as they reenter our communities from correctional facilities. Most of this employment, however, requires employers who see the employment of justice-involved individuals as acceptable, desirable, or advantageous. Little research, however, has focused on employers’ points of view regarding challenges and successes of hiring reentering individuals, as well as what employers would like to see from reentry agencies facilitating this process. This report contains the findings from an NCJR project stemming from interviews of employers who hire persons returning to communities from Nebraska correctional facilities. This research was conducted as part of the evaluation of Nebraska’s Vocational and Life Skills Program. The Employer Perspectives report can be found here.
