Flying Mavs Announce Travel Team for 2019 NIFA SAFECON

Omaha – The Aviation Institute is pleased to announce the members of the 2019 Flying Mavs Travel Team. Members of the Flying Mavs have been competing for the past 12 weeks to earn a spot on the travel team to compete at the 2019 SAFECON in Janesville, Wisconsin, in mid-May.
SAFECON, or Safety and Flight Evaluation Conference, is conducted by the National Intercollegiate Flying Association. It is an annual aviation skills competition of young pilots from schools around the country. During the week-long competition, the competitors are tested at the controls of their airplnaes, in simulators, and on written and hands-on tests on aviation skills that include spot landing contests, precision navigation courses, message drops, IFR simulator sessions, and aircraft preflight inspection. They compete for the SAFECON National Championship Trophy.

The Flying Mavs won first place at both the 2017 and 2018 Region VI SAFECON and placed 8th in the 2018 National SAFECON.
