The Council of Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) presented the 2021 Adult Learner Impact Award to UNO during its annual conference in San Diego, CA. The award recognizes institutions and organizations that have provided outstanding programs and services to adult learners.
"The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) received overwhelming support and was chosen as the 2021 recipient from among many quality entries. CAEL values the efforts of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and particularly the Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies (BMS) program, to become the catalyst for bridging the prior learning that students have attained with quality learning opportunities to achieve degree attainment."
Founded in 1974 on the revolutionary principle that adult learners should be met where they are and that their experience in getting there can create college-level learning, CAEL's nonprofit mission has become a national movement to ensure that every adult can navigate lifelong learning and career pathways that fuel social mobility and equitable prosperity. Today, CAEL supports adult learner success at more than 300 postsecondary institutions, employers, and government agencies in the U.S. and abroad.
The annual conference convenes leaders from the private and public sectors, including higher education, government, and workforce development. Christine Billings, Director of the Division of Continuing Studies (DCS) received the award on behalf of DCS and UNO.
