Omaha –
The UNO Maverick Hockey Team is in the home stretch for home ice in the National Collegiate Hockey Association as they take on Colorado College this Friday. Feb. 28, and Saturday, March 1.
Friday, Feb. 28 is a BLACKOUT night for the Mavs, with free series t-shirts that will be given away to the first 1,000 fans through the door. The Century Link Center will also provide $1 beverages for fans starting one hour before the puck drops at 7:37 p.m.
With six points on the line, UNO is currently alone in third place in the NCHC with 33 points but fighting for home ice against three teams who are just a few points behind them. UNO swept Colorado College during their last visit to the Century Link Center in January 2013.
Additionally, the Freshman Leadership Council in conjunction with UNO Athletics is hosting a pregame tailgate for the Colorado College vs. UNO hockey game. The event will be hosted at Dudley’s Pizzeria in Aksarben Village from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with free shuttles to the game being provided.
The first 150 students with a Mavcard will receive a free 8” one topping pizza and a free t-shirt.
Students get in free to every Maverick athletic event with the use of a MavCard. For the general public, tickets can be purchased at http://omahasteam.com.
