OMAHA – For many small businesses, federal grants can be an important component of success. This month, small businesses in the Midwest will get an opportunity to learn more about potential funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) as part of a special seminar being hosted by the Nebraska Business Development Center (NBDC), which located in University of Nebraska at Omaha's (UNO) Mammel Hall.
On Thursday, July 31, USDA National Program Leader Mary Ann Rozum will travel to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) for a presentation on how small businesses can secure Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants.
During her presentation, Rozum will discuss projects that the USDA is currently interested in helping support through SBIR grants as well as any changes to USDA’s rules and procedures for grant funding.
Rozum will also be on hand for one-on-one meetings with participants later in the day.
In addition to one-on-one meetings with Rozum, participants will also be able to hear from a panel of small business leaders on the topic of technology commercialization and network with other area small business leaders.
The day’s event will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the UNL East Union. Admission is free to anyone who registers by Monday, July 28. Anyone registered after July 28 will need to pay a $10 registration fee.
The event is sponsored by UNL Industry Relations.
