"Party at the Pitch" Tonight

Join us for a party at the pitch October 9th!

OMAHA, Neb. – Maverick spirit is in the air as the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) prepares for its first annual Maverick Mayhem: Party at the Pitch, a celebration to salute the new UNO Community Arena, recognize Omaha Athletics and its fans, and kick-off the 2014-15 hockey season. The event will take place on campus at Caniglia Soccer Field on Thursday, October 9. Maverick fans along with UNO faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the free event. The first 500 students will receive a free ‘Maverick Mayhem’ t-shirt.

“Our university has experienced many positive changes and growth over the last few years. This unprecedented event is another way that UNO is beginning new traditions,” said UNO Senior Director of Student Involvement Bill Pickett. “As we celebrate Homecoming Week, we have the perfect opportunity as a campus and as a community to be loud, proud and full of Maverick spirit.”

Schedule Information

  • Maverick Mayhem will begin a pre-pep rally at 6 p.m. with carnival games and music by DJ Kethro

  • Hot drinks and food trucks will be available on-site

  • The Marching Mavericks and the UNO drum line will kick-off the pep rally at 6:45 p.m.

  • At 7 p.m., MavRadio Disk Jockey Mister 1960 will welcome attendees and announce the homecoming court

  • UNO Director of Athletics Trev Alberts, along with athletes and coaches from volleyball, women’s basketball, men’s basketball and hockey will then address the crowd and provide an update on athletic programs and the latest developments of the UNO Community Arena

“Maverick Mayhem is an opportunity to thank our fans, our students, our student-athletes and our community for their commitment to and support of Omaha Athletics,” said UNO Senior Associate Athletic Director Josh White. “This event celebrates a successful UNO athletics program that has built great momentum. It’s a party to honor our student-athletes and fans, and get ready for an exciting season and future ahead.”

Event attendees will have the opportunity to sign a commemorative flag that will be presented at the first hockey game at the new UNO Community Arena opening October 2015.

Musical Guests

Well-known local bands M34N STR33T and Icky Blossoms are scheduled to perform, starting at 8:15 p.m. Both M34N STR33T and Icky Blossoms performed at the 2014 Maha Music Festival. The event will conclude around 10 p.m.
