Global Security Expert to Speak at UNO Nov. 6

OMAHA – One of the United States’ foremost experts on global security will be speaking at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) on Thursday, Nov. 6.
On Nov. 6, the National Strategic Research Institute will host the Honorable Ronald F. Lehman, II, for discussions and an open forum on deterrence strategies and security implications of weapons of mass destruction across the world.
The event will take place in the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Attendance is free but requires an RSVP, which can be made here.
Lehman is the former director of the Center for Global Research Security at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and was the Chief Negotiator for Strategic Offensive Arms for the START I treaty with Russia in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
During his time in government, Lehman served for presidents Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Clinton. He has held such positions as Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Policy, Director of the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency and Deputy Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs.
Prior to his work in government, Lehman served in Vietnam with the United States Army and earned degrees from Claremont McKenna College and Claremont Graduate University.
