OMAHA – Ghosts, spirits and poltergeists have been the focus of countless movies, television shows and video games over the years, but on Friday, Oct. 24, the existence of these phenomenon will be the focus of the Fourth Annual Paranormal Summit at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO).
Just in time for Halloween, the UNO Paranormal Society is bringing back their annual conference, which brings together Nebraska’s premier paranormal investigators and researchers. At the end of the summit, participants will engage in a paranormal investigation on campus.
“The purpose of UNO Paranormal Society, and this event in particular, is to look at the logical, scientific and rational explanations of the paranormal phenomenon,” said Dave Pares, adjunct professor of geography and meteorology at UNO and faculty advisory for the UNO Paranormal Society. “But, we like to have fun and are open to exploring all kinds of evidence.”
The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Milo Bail Student Center Ballroom. Doors to the event open at 5 p.m. and admission is $15 for the general public, or $10 for UNO students with a MavCard.
The schedule for this year’s event will include presentations from:
- UNO Paranormal Society
- Paranormal Nebraska Research Group (NRG)
- Heartland Paranormal Research Group
- Paranormal Research & Investigative Studies Midwest (PRISM)
- Nebraska Paranormal Society (NPS)
- Omaha Research Beyond the Supernatural (ORBS)
- Psychic Andy
This year’s event is dedicated to local paranormal investigator Carl Nogard, who helped co-found PRISM.
The event will also feature a raffle with the proceeds going to a local food bank and the Nebraska Humane Society.
Parking on the UNO campus will be free the day of the event after 5 p.m., except for designated stalls and handicapped spaces.
