OMAHA – The Emergency Management program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) is one of the most affordable programs in the country according to an recent report released by Emergency Management Degree Program Guide.
Launched the fall of 2012, the UNO Emergency Management Services degree program is ranked as having the highest quality among all degree programs that cost under $23,000 to obtain.
The October report lists UNO as the seventh least expensive degree program in the country, but first in quality, ahead of more established programs at Arizona State University, University of North Texas and Akron University.
“To be ranked so highly this early in our program’s history is the result of hard work being put in by our faculty, staff and students,” said Patrick O’Neil director of the program. “At a time when many are looking for the best quality for the cost, there is no place better than UNO.”
The report cited the variety of degree options as one of UNO’s strengths including a bachelor’s degree with “nine concentration options that include intelligence and national security, public health, private sector management, and Native American Studies,” as well as a concentration in emergency management as part of the nationally-ranked Bachelor of General Studies program.
“With the rising need for emergency response services and the increasing sophistication required, this is a degree that addresses a growing career field,” says John Bartle, Dean of the College of Public Affairs and Community Service. “The range of options for students is so wide; from public service, to nonprofit relief agencies, to private risk management.”
