OMAHA –
The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Art Gallery has announced three exhibits that will be opening on the UNO campus beginning Sunday, Nov. 23, including receptions running from 3 to 5 p.m.
The three exhibits highlight the work of former UNO faculty member Wanda Ewing, as well as this semester’s Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Studio Arts graduating seniors.
“Celebrating Wanda Ewing” will take place in the UNO Art Gallery, on the first floor of the Weber Fine Arts Building, and celebrate the work of Ewing, a UNO Art and Art History faculty member who unexpectedly passed away last year. Remarks concerning the exhibit and the announcement of the inagural Wanda Ewing Memorial Scholarship will begin at 4 p.m.
Ewing’s work was “Inspired by images found in popular culture,” and “explore[d] the subjects of race, beauty standards, sexuality and identity.”
Also opening, in the UNO Art Gallery Hexagon space, is a senior thesis exhibit from UNO senior Amanda Good, who will be graduating in December with her Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Good will present “Inner Illustrations,” which Good describes as an “exploration of the innermost human emotions” as displayed through the use of sculpture and print media.
In the UNO Criss Library’s Osborne Family Gallery, 11 students who will be earning Bachelor of Studio Art degrees this semester will display their final semester projects.
The students who will be displaying work include:
- Nikki Baak of Omaha
- Kyle Christensen of Omaha
- Marietta Cosgrove of Omaha
- Logan Dean of Omaha
- Aaron Frey of Omaha
- Adam Haug of Omaha
- Kelsey McAlpine of Omaha
- Jaritza Medina of Omaha
- Shweta Sengupta of Tamil Nadu, India

Each of the exhibits will close at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20 following UNO’s commencement ceremonies.
