An editorial piece authored by Chancellor Joanne Li, Ph.D., CFA has been published in the Omaha World-Herald.
The article was published on Thursday, March 10 ahead of Li's formal installation as Chancellor at Friday's investiture ceremony. The article advocates for meeting student needs, a "fierce institutional commitment" to student success, and enhancing accessibility and affordability of higher education. Together, these actions ultimately benefit UNO students and foster workforce development in our state.
"For leaders and educators in Nebraska to truly honor the commitment of the hardworking learners in our state and inspire the future of workforce development, we need to rethink what it means for someone to pull themselves up by their bootstraps," Li wrote. "Because many students don’t have bootstraps to begin with, we also need to analyze the role our universities play in lifting them up."
