Biography
Kristin M. Girten joined UNO as faculty in 2006 in the Department of English and the Women’s and Gender Studies Program.
Her current research focuses on how literary imagination may be engaged to help foster social and environmental justice. As a literary historian, she focuses specifically on the British Enlightenment, investigating transdisciplinary interactions between literature, science, and philosophy. Her work has been funded by the Mellon Foundation and the NEH.
In 2021, Girten was named Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research and Creative Activity where she provides leadership for UNO’s growing and diverse research and creative activity mission. She serves as a liaison between faculty across the university and the Office of Research and Creative Activity.
