As the primary identifier for UNO, the University Logo(also called the System Logo)must be used on all forms of communication and whenever the university is being represented.
Consistent use of the logo strengthens recognition for UNO and helps build a unified brand. Unique logos for academic, administrative, or research units undermine this effort and are not permitted, without exception.
Always use original renderings of the University Logo.
Guidelines
- Color:
- The University Logo may only appear in two-color (black and red), all-black, or all-white.
- The “Omaha” designation appears in red, PMS 186. Refer to the Brand Colors section for guidance on approved colors.
- When the University Logo is reversed, all type should appear in white only.
- Clearance Space and Size:
- The minimum clearance space for the University Logo is defined as the height of the “O” in the Omaha designation. No type or other graphical elements should be placed within the bounding box.
- The clearance space rule should be maintained as the logo is proportionately enlarged or reduced in size.
- The University Logo should not be reduced to any size smaller than 1” wide.
- Readability:
- The University Logo must be legible.
- When the University Logo is placed over artwork or photography, the background must have substantial contrast to the University Logo.
- Usage:
- DO use the University Logo on all communications materials.
- DO use only approved, unaltered versions of the UNO University Logo.
- DO remember when scaling (enlarging or reducing) the University Logo, to always make sure that the shift key is used to maintain the original proportion of the mark.
Improper Uses of the University Logo
- DO NOT modify, redesign, redraw, animate, distort, or alter the proportions of the logo.
- DO NOT add words, images, or other design elements or effects to the logo, or add the logo to another graphic.
- DO NOT modify the size or position relationship of any element within the logo.
- DO NOT replace the typeface with any other.
- DO NOT swap or alter colors or reverse incorrectly by using two colors on black or dark backgrounds.
