The UNO Typesetting was created as a way to resolve horizontal space issues for items like website banner ads, email headers, and newspaper footer ads. The UNO Typesettingis not a substitute for the official University Logo. The University Logo must always be present on publications and other communication materials.
Always use original renderings of the UNO Typesetting.
Guidelines
1. Typography
- URW Grotesk Regular is the only typeface that should be used when typesetting with the Campus Icon.
- All text must be in all caps.
2. Color
- The UNO Typesetting may appear in three-color(black, white, and red), all-black, or all-white.
- The Campus Icon always has a white outline, which may not be visible on white and light backgrounds. Do not remove the Campus Icon’s white outline or add an outline to the white outline.
- The divider bar and all text should be in black or white only.
3. Clearance Space and Size
- The minimum clearance space for the UNO Typesettingis defined as the width of the black and red bands of the “O” icon. No type or other graphical element should be placed within the bounding box.
- The clearance space rule should be maintained as the logo is proportionately enlarged or reduced in size.
- The Campus Icon must not be reduced past its minimum size requirements. Therefore, the minimum size of the UNO typesetting (including divider line) must not be reduced any smaller than 4” wide.
4. Readability
- The UNO Typesetting must be legible.
- When the UNO Typesettingis placed over artwork or photography, the background must have substantial contrast to the UNO Typesetting.
5. Usage
- DO use the Typesetting on communications materials to resolve horizontal space issues for items like website banner ads, email headers, and newspaper footer ads.
- DO use only approved, unaltered versions of the UNO Typesetting.
- DO remember when scaling (enlarging or reducing) the UNO Typesetting, to always make sure that the shift key is used to maintain the original proportion of the mark.
Improper Uses of the University Logo
- DO NOT modify, redesign, redraw, animate, distort, or alter the proportions of the UNO Typesetting.
- DO NOT add words, images, or other design elements or effects to the typesetting, or add the typesetting to another graphic.
- DO NOT modify the size or position relationship of any element within the typesetting.
- DO NOT replace the typeface with any other.
- DO NOT swap or alter colors or reverse incorrectly.
- DO NOT remove the white outline of the Campus Icon or attempt to recreate, add to, or modify the white outline in any way.
- DO NOT use any mark, other than the Campus Icon, within the UNO Typesetting.
