The Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications (MarComm) adheres to certain policies and guidelines to help maintain the UNO brand and ensure the consistency and accuracy of all communications across campus.
Brand Guidelines
The UNO Brand Guidelines are a set of standards the university uses to maintain a consistent brand identity across all channels. The guide defines the framework for visual and written communication and demonstrates how to accurately present the UNO brand to all internal and external audiences.
Photo and Video Guidelines
The UNO photo and video guidelines answer questions about Photoshelter, which is the UNO photo and video archive, questions concerning after hours coverage, questions on hiring a freelance photographer or videographer, and questions about ownership rights, copyright material, image copyright, and music copyright. Also, a link to the UNO Grant of Permission form can be found there as well.
Social Media Policy
UNO's Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications has guidance available for ensuring all UNO social media accounts have a consistent look and feel.
The UNO Social Media Policy is intended for all students, faculty, and staff who manage or contribute to university-affiliated social media channels. If you're thinking about launching a new social media channel for your UNO entity, make sure you're in compliance with the university's policy on University-Affiliated Social Media Accounts.
Website Governance
The UNO digital presence is the public face of the university. To best showcase UNO as a coordinated, forward-thinking force to be reckoned with, our digital presence must be consistent and easy to use. This consistency must extend throughout all subdomains and subsites of UNOmaha.edu as well as other official channels. The Digital Communications Governance policy ensures this consistency.
What's Newsworthy
With newsroom staff being stretched thinner than ever, UNO's Editorial and Media Relations team strategically shares UNO news and announcements with media based on whether a story meets certain newsworthiness criteria. Stories that register high on these news values have a higher likelihood of being shared with media.
Writing Style Guide
UNO’s Writing Style Guide sets standard writing, grammar, and punctuation conventions for the university in an effort to maintain a consistent tone and style across all written content.
