General Education Transfer Policy
Effective Fall 2024, students admitted to UNO with a Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution will have fulfilled UNO’s general education requirements. Such students must still complete any general education requirements specified within their specific program of study, and any required prerequisites or other requirements stated in UNO’s Undergraduate Catalog.
Effective Fall 2024, students admitted to UNO with an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree from a regionally accredited institution will have fulfilled UNO’s lower division general education requirements. Such students must still complete any upper division general education requirements, general education requirements specified within their specific program of study, and any required prerequisites or other requirements stated in UNO’s Undergraduate Catalog.
Degrees must be completed at an institution accredited by one of the following bodies: Accrediting Commissions for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Higher Learning Commission (HLC), Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), New England Commission on Higher Education (NECHE), Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCC), Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).
Former Institution-Wide General Education Agreements
Institution-Wide General Education Agreements allow students from specific community colleges who have been awarded the designated degree to have fulfilled the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) general education requirements applicable to all UNO degree programs.
Note: The current General Education Transfer Policy includes the agreements with the 3 community colleges listed above and substantially expands agreements to both Nebraska and non-Nebraska institutions.
