UNO Men's Ice Hockey - BOGO Tickets 

Staff were welcomed to purchase a set of tickets and bring a fellow Maverick ( or several) and cheer on the UNO Men's Ice Hockey team as they took on University of Wisconsin (Exhibition) at Baxter Arena.

UNO Faculty & Staff Alumni Appreciation Event 

To kick off Staff Appreciation Week, the UNO Alumni Association is hosted a Staff and Faculty Alumni Appreciation Event.

This event was designed to recognize and appreciate our staff and faculty alumni during Staff Appreciation Week. UNO staff and faculty alumni were welcome to stop by for a quick 5-minute grab-and-go or were welcome to stay and network with others.

Attendees received a free Forever Maverick tumbler and could have entered to win a bag of Scooter’s Maverick Blend Coffee –– a bold, medium-roast made especially for Mavericks!

RSVP was requested and all UNO faculty and staff were welcome.

Chair Massages - Take a Seat 

Staff were able to stop by any of the below building locations for a time to receive a chair massage. Availability of chair massages at all locations were based on "first come, first served" basis.

Staff Popcorn & Affirmation 

Staff stopped by and picked up a complimentary bag of Vic's plain or black/red popcorn and a Hardy Coffee Co. gift card. Water and soda was available.

Starbucks Coupon Pick-Up 

Staff stopped by the Starbucks located in the Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Library to claim a $2.00 off coupon, redeemable on food or drink.

UNO F.A.S.T. - "The Digital Dilema" 

Staff were welcome to join us for this training, hosted by UNO Human Resources, either in-person in the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center, room 205 or via Zoom.

Interested individuals who were unable to join us in-person could have registered for this training via Bridge in order to receive the appropriate Zoom link beforehand. The registration link via events.unomaha.edu was the same.

In this training participants:

• Discussed screen time and its positive and negative impact on mental and physical health
• Learned best practice tips for integrating screen time into a healthy lifestyle
• Adjusted habits so you find screen time balance in daily life

Wear Black, Give Back | Festival. Food. Fun. 

The UNO Community celebrated the day of giving with food, games, and more around Henningson Memorial Campanile.

Treats, refreshments, music by a live DJ, fun games, and a photo opportunity with Durango were all made possible through the University of Nebraska (NU) Foundation. Participating student organizations were on-site for the festival and passerby learned more about Wear Black, Give Back!

All About Wear Black, Give Back (WBGB)

Noon on Tuesday, October 8 through noon on Wednesday, October 9. Wear Black, Give Back (WBGB), UNO’s annual day of giving, was a 24-hour period to raise needed resources for scholarships, colleges and programs, student groups and activities, inclusion and wellness, athletics and much more. Wear Black, Give Back 2024 officially kicked off at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 8, and lasted through noon on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Every gift of $5 or more was counted toward the year’s goal of 5,000 gifts. All donors of $75 or more received a complimentary UNO knit stocking cap.

During Wear Black, Give Back, alumni, faculty, staff, students and supporters of UNO were encouraged to wear black UNO apparel, post to social media using #WearBlackGiveBack, and give back with a gift to UNO, its students and its programs, at givingday.unomaha.edu.

Wear Black, Give Back | Coffee Fuel-Up 

UNO staff members rejoiced with a complimentary coffee, courtesy of the NU Foundation!

Starting at 9:00 A.M. on the Dodge Campus, staff members joined staff of the NU Foundation for a quick cup of joe. For the midday crowd on Scott Campus, the NU Foundation partnered with Stedman's Café in Mammel Hall with a special Wear Black, Give Back menu and complimentary coffee from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.

Staff were welcome to join us for this training, hosted by UNO Human Resources, either in-person in the Mammel Hall, room 119 or via Zoom.

In this training participants:

• Discovered what a personal brand is and why it was important as an individual
• Discussed the critical elements of an effective personal brand
• Learned how to create your personal brand and utilize it for greater success

UNO Men's Soccer - BOGO Tickets 

Staff were welcomed to purchase a set of tickets and bring a fellow Maverick ( or several) and cheer on the UNO Men's Soccer team as they take on Creighton University at Caniglia Field.

Staff were invited to start their Friday-Eve off right and stop by for a light morning breakfast.

In this training participants:

• Understood the difference between rewards and recognition
• Learned the five languages of appreciate at work
• Applied different appreciation methods which will make others feel truly valued and appreciated

UNO Women's Soccer - 6 Free Tickets 

Staff were welcome to claim six (6) ✨FREE✨ tickets and cheer on the UNO Women's Soccer team as they took on University of North Dakota at Caniglia Field.

Friday Fun Day 

Staff had some fun during the lunch hour in the Pep Bowl with fellow Mavericks from across campus. They were invited to bring their lunch, play some fun yard games, and help celebrate the end of a Maverick Spirit filled week. Below are a few fun activities attendees could have taken advantage of:

• Giant Connect Four
• Giant Jenga
• Ring Toss
• Cornhole
• Frisbee
• Football

Faculty/Staff Family Trunk or Treat 

Faculty and Staff members alike were able to give their little Mavericks a jump on their Halloween candy haul by attending the Family Trunk or Treat in Mammel Hall's Parking Lot 5.

UNO Women's Volleyball - 6 Free Tickets 

Staff were welcome to claim six (6) ✨FREE✨ tickets and cheer on the UNO Women's Volleyball team as they took on North Dakota State University at Baxter Arena.
