C.H.A.M.P.S. exists as a vehicle for involving parents in the child care program. It creates opportunities for social exchange and support among parents, as well as provides methods for parents to support the child care center through participation in fund-raising efforts, volunteering time within the program and planning events to promote information about the program to current parents and to the general public.
How We Operate
C.H.A.M.P.S. will function with a predominately collectivist organization style.
As such, all members will have input into decisions made by the group. Decisions will be made by a majority vote of those present after suitable time for discussion and research into the feasibility of a particular idea.
Membership
Any parent, grandparent, or legal guardian of a child attending UNOCCC is automatically considered to be a member. Parents who are in good standing at UNO will be considered "active" members, and parents who are staff or faculty will be considered "participatory" members.
Any person not meeting the above criteria, but who demonstrates a wish to support UNOCCC and its activities may also become a member through affiliation.
C.H.A.M.P.S. will not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, sex, sexual preference, age, or handicap.
Officers & Elections
Officers consist of co-coordinators, a secretary, and a treasurer. Election nominations may be submitted in writing before the first meeting of the group in the fall.
Any person who qualifies as a member of C.H.A.M.P.S. may be elected to an office. The election will be held at the first scheduled meeting of the fall semester. The term of office is one year. There is no limit to the number of times a person may occupy an office.
