Dodge Campus Electrical Power Outage Update
UNO Alert: The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Dodge Campus continues to experience widespread electrical power outages – all Dodge Campus buildings will remain closed to students and non-essential personnel overnight.
UNO students, faculty, and staff will receive an update on the status of in-person, teaching, working, and learning on Dodge Campus for Thursday, Dec. 5 no later than 6:00 A.M.
In the early morning of Wednesday, Dec. 4, an electrical fuse serving campus failed. UNO Facilities staff on site reported the failure soon after.
Staff evaluated the condition of the electrical distribution equipment to discover that the electrical failure was located inside the OPPD transfer cabinet. As a result of the surge, it was determined that a fuse located in the cabinet needed to be replaced and the high voltage electrical cables to that fuse needed to be assessed by OPPD for possible damages and/or replacement.
At approximately 10:30 A.M., OPPD disconnected electrical power to Dodge Campus to begin their assessment and repair process, and later determined an electrical cable was damaged. Work is underway to replace the cable.
Students, faculty, staff, and the Omaha community are encouraged to monitor their email, text messages, social media, and emergency.unomaha.edu for updates.
