Applying for travel aid
Apply for the money.
IMPORTANT! There are lots of questions about prices on the applications, but you just need to put in your best guesstimate. Close enough is good enough.
The College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Office, the Office of Graduate Studies and Research, and the Office of Research and Creative Activity (ORCA) may have funds available to help you pay for your conference travel. You must apply to be considered; and can only be funded once per academic year. You will be notified by email if you are approved for funding, so make sure you check your emails regularly.
If you receive funding, a MANDATORY post-trip summary is required. (Read more about the summary.) If you don't turn in a summary, you don't get paid.
NOTE: Even if you are approved for funding, sometimes it takes several weeks before you receive notification. So plan on spending as if you don't have any monetary help from UNO.
FYI about the funding applications before you begin. . .
- The CAS Dean's office has become nearly impossibly particular about their expecations on the content of your application for the meager amount they may or may not award. Look at the examples carefully!
- You are REQUIRED to submit a 1-2 page summary of your conference experience. Only include what you learned at the conference on your summary; no "fluff" (Dean's staff word, not ours).
- The CAS Dean's instructions do not indicate that an abstract is required; include one anyway
- The CAS Dean's instructions do not indicate that you need to include an presentation acceptance email from the conference organizers; you do need that.
